Another area where the Sonic stands far ahead of its predecessors is under the hood. It features a 1.8-liter inline-4 which offers nearly 140 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. There is also a turbocharged option as well. In its segment, the Sonic is far and away the most powerful car. It also has fairly strong handing capabilities, although not quite as good as the Ford Fiesta. Overall, you should get about 40 mpg on the highway with the more powerful turbocharged engine.
A lot of people have safety concerns about smaller cars such as a the Chevrolet Sonic. In this case, the concern is unjustified.
