Ask any avid car maniac and he will tell you that car auctions have some amazing offers for the smart thinkers. So, if you have been secretly longing for a sports car and are quite sure that it is beyond your budget, think again. For all you know, the local government motor auctions might have one of those cars! You might wonder why people recommend auctions instead of going to showrooms and buying a brand new car with all the papers in order. Some vehicle auctions may be disorganized or illegal. But not all the auctions fall into that category. Far from that, government motor auctions are the best legal car auctions which offer some tempting bargains. You just need to be smart enough to identify the opportunity when it knocks at your door!

The three good things about government motor auctions:

Great bargains and regular options.

A great choice of cars, including fancy, sports models and small cars.

Perfectly legal, reliable and simple transaction.

Earlier, these government auto auctions were open mostly for dealers. These days, the general public is invited to come over and participate in the auction.
How can you save?

You decide the price of the car because you are bidding for it!

You can get cars for dirt cheap. How about 150 dollars for a Porsche?

Save time by getting regular updates about auctions through government auction web sites.

No more hunting; save the hassle of finding cars by submitting your preferences to such agencies.

Save the headache of interacting through a third party. You deal directly with the Government!

Get cars with fewer miles on them. Make savings on almost new cars by waiting for just a little while.

Save on the expenses that otherwise come while buying fancy cars.

Save yourself from worry because the source is fully reliable.

This should give you a clear picture of why the government auctions are getting increasingly popular. This just means that more and more people are reading such informative articles that tell you the benefits of government auto auctions! Get ahead of the rest.

If you have decided on buying a vehicle from one of the Seized Motor Auctions, you should go through the vehicles that have been listed in the various sales and see which one suits your requirement and affordability. Sales are conducted in every state and city pretty regularly so if there is one near your place then it is a good idea to go and have a look at the vehicle which you are interested in.

To make sure that you are searching for your vehicle in reliable local car auctions sites, learn a little more about the auctioneers before you start your bidding. Make sure they are well reputed and renowned and have been in this field for some time. This way you can relax and not worry about the kind of deal you are getting into and the legal issues related to it.

Get the market value of the vehicle

No doubt vehicles are sold at rock bottom prices at Seized Motor Auctions, but there is no need to pay more than you should for them. So check out the market values of the vehicles that you have short listed before you go to bid at the Seized Motor Auctions. Another important point that you should keep in your mind when you start bidding at any vehicle auctions, is to bid at the lowest level at first. You never know you may be the only bidder and can get the car at the lowest going price. Do not bid higher than is required and make an expensive buy, especially when you can get it at a much lower rate at local car auctions.

Check the vehicle out

You will not be permitted to take the vehicle out of the auction premises to test drive it, but will be allowed to check it out and maybe even start the engine to see what the performance is like. So get hold of someone who can help you to assess the condition of the vehicle before hand and take him along with you when you are ready to inspect the vehicle yourself.

More than 30000 cars are sold every single day in the US. And with life being on such a fast lane, there is hardly anytime for one to go to a showroom and select a car. Instead people are now just traversing through the net and getting into cars deals online itself. One major reason this is that cars on the net are far cheaper than in the showroom. A simple reason for this is, there is no cost required for displaying the car instead a picture is made available for the customer. Some sites even give 3D view of the cars and an in dept information regarding the car which one might not find in case of a salesman. Though there are some disadvantages that one cannot bargain prices on the net, but then the prices on the net are far cheaper than the bargained ones on the showroom.

This had just started providing the consumers with competitive rates and when online car auctions came up it took the competitive rates even further down. Car auctions have meant life had become a bit easier for the consumer and difficult for the dealer. Traditionally auctioning was where an item was put up for sale and bidders would bid for it and eventually the highest bidder would end up buying it. With the markets so competitive dealer have now devised a new kind of auction called as reverse auctioning. Reverse auctioning works as follows: First the buyer quotes for a car request. Once buyer quotes a request for a car, all car dealers’ then start competing in a reverse auction. This is done for an auction duration set by the buyer, till a seller is found offering lowest price. Once the seller is found there is a dialogue between the seller and the buyer if they wish to continue with the purchase or sale of the car. These car auctions also done for used cars too and there are many sites on the internet dedicated to just sales of automobile. They work in the following way, a seller can post the information regarding the car he wants to sell and the buyer searches for the cars he is interested in buying. On finding a match he can contact the seller through the site and buy the product.

Are Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Maseratis just way too expensive? If you would like to get a chance of having this car of your dreams, the nearest auto shop is not the right place to go. Chancing in the E-bay for a mad trader to auction his luxury car at the lowest bidding price is like waiting for the next blue moon. If you would take extra effort of research, you could find that the best deals might be found just around the corner, in the government auction.

Lots of vehicles, most especially the luxury ones, are seized by the government every year. These vehicles came from crooks, tax evaders and other law breakers which the government seized as payment of the tax dues or accessories to the crime. Anti-organized crime laws gave authorities to seize cars from drug traffickers and other suspected mobs. When these crooks are caught, government will get the custody of the seized vehicles.
Space and inventory is one of the problems a government will usually face in the event of the growing numbers of seized cars. While the government has no intention of using them, the cost of getting space is more of a burden than keeping these hot wheels.

Though there are great deals for those who take the time to uncover the gems at car auctions, there are also lemons in the bunch as well. For this reason, it is imperative that you take the time to inspect the vehicle that you are interested in bidding on the auction. The good news is that you do not have to be an auto mechanic to improve your chances of getting a great vehicle at the car auctions.

For the most part, you will that the automobiles that are offered at government auctions and car auctions are going to be sold ‘as is’. What this means for you, as the buyer, is that you are going to be responsible for any repairs that the car may need. For this reason, many people are leery of auto auctions. However, there is no need for this fear.

Prior to bidding on the vehicles at government auctions, you will be afforded an opportunity to insect the cars in advance. Most auto auctions will not allow you to test drive the cars, but in most cases, you will be able to start the vehicle. To make sure you are getting a quality car, you should definitely take advantage of this pre inspection period.

You can begin your inspection by looking for external damage first. This means that you should visually inspect both the exterior and interior of the car. Be thorough in your inspections. Check the trunk and under the seats. Make sure that there is no dampness under the floor mats or seats. Make note of any other obvious major damage to the vehicle as well.

When you are checking the exterior body of the car, be sure to look for any rust, paint that does not match, or paint bubbles (which can indicate a potential for future rusting). You should also make sure that the body panels of the car are properly aligned. Be sure to check the lights and turn signals. And when you are inspecting the engine compartment, check for new bolts or bolts that do not match the other bolts in color.

While you are inspecting the engine compartment of the car, be sure to remove the oil stick. Make sure that there are no white bubbles (indicative of the presence of water) and feel the oil to ensure that it is not grainy. If the oil is extremely dirty, this may indicate poor maintenance. You should also avoid vehicles where the oil is paste like.

While you are beneath the hood, you should also check the transmission fluid. The fluid should not be dark brown or have a rancid odor.

Other things that you should be on the lookout for are leaking spots or stains beneath the vehicle. Be sure to also inspect the tailpipe for gummy spots.

When you start the car, listen closely for sounds out of the ordinary, such as knocking or pinging. The exhaust fumes should be clear. Make sure that all the equipment is functional, especially the air conditioning and heat. Test the power windows and locks and any other power options available on the car.

A quick transmission check will save you a lot of future headache. You can perform this simple test by placing your foot on the brake and putting the car in drive and reverse. Do this several times. You want to make sure that the vehicle does not making any clunking noises or lunge when put into gear – this can indicate a transmission or other major problem.

If you follow these simple guidelines when inspecting vehicles at car auctions, you need not be intimidated by the task. And by thoroughly inspecting the car you are interested in, you will vastly improve the chances of getting a great car in good working order.
