Audi has released its new oil burner (diesel powered) sports car – the TT Coupe Quattro 2.0. As turbo-diesel cars have become mainstream in recent times, sports cars seemed to have been overlooked somewhat. But Audi has come up with a superb car with good torque and excellent fuel economy. There are now eight TTs to choose from including the TDI Quattro.

Interior

Audi is well known for its quality of finish and interior. The TT Quattro is no different. Predominantly black with buttons backlit in stark red, everything is easy to find and operate. The “cockpit” provides a brilliant driving position that does not require too much effort to enter. In the front leg room and headroom is limited but, after all, this is a sports car. Still it does offer folding rear seats, which gives some practicality.

Driveability

The TT Quattro has excellent grip which is the hallmark of Audi’s all-wheel system. In combination with the high torque levels and the TT becomes a mean machine without the big engine. The key to its on road performance is its low weight.

The TT comes only in a six-speed manual so an automatic is not available in the diesel. It has a power output of 125 kW (172PS) and 350 Nm of torque. Yet at the same time the TT Coupé consumes on average only around 53.3 mpg.

What’s Included

The standard gear is limited which may disappoint some buyers. The starting base price gives you climate controlled A/C, leather trim, cruise, auto headlights and wipers, six-stack CD stereo and 17 inch alloys. But, as always, other Audi extras are costly.

Summary

Audi calls it “guilt-free motoring” given the impressive fuel consumption (it is the second most economical car in the Audi stable). While there is some compromise on performance and sound with the TDI, there is still a whole lot of fun to be had driving this car.

Ever wondered what Police Departments do with all of the seized, confiscated and abandoned vehicles and items they hold at any time? Do you want to buy a new car, laptop or iPod but can’t afford to pay full price? Well Police Department auctions are the answer to both questions.

Each year, across the United States, Police Departments come into possession thousands and thousands of items that they do not and cannot hold forever. So to get rid of the property they sell them at auction. There are bicycles, jewelry, tools, and electronic equipment as well as cars, trucks and motorcycles. Most of the items are in perfect working order as much of it is seized directly from people’s possession, or was stolen from the original owner and left abandoned.

Police auctions are held both in the live and online format. Online auctions are becoming increasingly popular but they don’t beat the ability to be able to check out the item you wish to buy before auction, and check out your bidding competition during the auction. But for many, the convenience of online auctions is what leads them to bid online.

Police auctions, and government auctions generally, are safer in that buyers are dealing with the law, not some unknown seller. Also, given that the police and government just want to get rid of the items, buyers can pick up great bargains. Up to 90% off normal market price is not unusual.

So next time you are in the market to buy an item and you are short of cash (or just want a bargain!) then check out police department auctions.

Most car buyers usually buy their cars the same way they always have: they go to a showroom or a used car dealer they have known for several years. Instead of paying too much money to a dealer for a used car you will find great opportunities for incredible savings when you buy a used car from a seized car auction. Many people are puzzled when they hear about seized car auctions as they do not understand them nor have they been to one before. However, seized car auctions can give buyers incredible deals and are suitable for first time car buyers. Do some homework beforehand and prepare yourself to save money on your next car purchase.

Everyday, various government departments seize and repossess thousands of cars and send them to maintenance lot. The Government needs a large storage space and it is expensive to store all these seized cars. To cut down the maintenance and handling costs and to free the space in storage lot, seized cars are sold at government seized car auctions. These auctions are real gems for buying used cars because most of the cars are sold off at as little as 10% of the market price. You may have to pay up 90% more for the same car when you buy it from a dealer.

The Government has strict anti-mob laws and as a result, a number of cars are seized from drug dealers and other criminals. Many of these criminals drive luxury cars and hence finding your favorite Mercedes Benz or BMW in seized car auctions is not that difficult. Many people have profited from near new seized cars sold in seized car auctions. Various models from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford, Honda, Lexus and others are not uncommon in such seized car auctions.

Many people still resist the temptation of buying used cars from seized car auctions because they don’t get a warranty for any car. The cars are sold ‘as is’ and you can’t go back to someone if the car starts creating trouble after you purchased it. This is where professional expertise can help you. Before bidding on any car, make sure that you do a thorough inspection of the car. This way you will know beforehand the condition of the car and if any repairs are required.

So don’t be afraid of buying a seized car at an auction. You may be very surprised at the quality of the vehicles available and the incredible deals you can get.

Have you ever wondered where your local car dealer gets their stock from? Well a certain amount of it comes from part exchanges of course, but most of the stock you see on the lot of your local dealer will have been purchased at wholesale prices from car an auction.

You may have thought these auctions were closed to the general public. But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact some auctions positively encourage members of the public to attend and here’s the reason why.

An auction makes its money by adding commission to the sale price of the car. It’s based on a percentage of what the car makes. So the more the car brings in at auction the more commission an auctioneer makes.

You as a member of the general public can take advantage of this, because unlike a dealer you don’t need to make a profit. You’re likely to bid more for a car than a dealer is prepared to pay; this in turn increases the amount of commission an auctioneer makes.

Now some dealers aren’t particularly happy about this, as you can imagine. They are constantly lobbying auctioneers to have trade only sales, some auctioneers have relented and offer trade only auctions once a month, but this is just a token gesture to appease the dealers.

They are unlikely to prevent the general public from attending altogether for the reason stated above, but what do you care. This is an opportunity to beat the system, buy the car you want at a price just above wholesale.

There is another reason why car auctions are the best place to buy. Your local car lot will have a limited number of cars in stock, due to the amount of space they have available. Also they may only specialize in one type or make of car which severely restricts your choice.

Your local car auction has no such restrictions. At any given sale they’ll have many hundreds of cars available for you to choose from. You get the chance to view each car before it comes under the hammer. So this limits the chances of you buying a dud. If you’re after buying a specialist car like a Porsche or Mercedes keep a look out for specialist sales. These are usually held once a month and will have a much greater choice of these types of vehicle available than a standard sale.

When you take everything into account buying at auction really is a no brainer. You get a huge choice of vehicles, you can inspect each vehicle before the sale, and most importantly you get them at a little over wholesale price. Sometimes you may even get lucky and get the car of your dreams at a price well bellow wholesale price.

So what are you waiting for, beat the dealers at their own game and head on down to your local auction today. Just make sure you do your homework first and establish what kind of car you’re looking for and what you’re prepared to pay for it.

If you are looking for a new or used Toyota car at a cheap and competitive price, you can’t go past New Jersey auto car auctions. Auto auctions can be a great alternative to buying private sale, or from a dealership as more often than not you are guaranteed a great deal.

You can just about find any make or model of car at car auctions and New Jersey has its fair share of car auctions to choose from. One thing you can be guaranteed is that vehicles in car auctions are planned to be sold quickly and hassle free, meaning pricing is often a sizable amount lower than what you would expect to pay at a dealership or through private sale.

At New Jersey auto auctions you can get cheap Toyota cars in mint condition and pay just a fraction of the cost you would at retail. The retail price for a new Toyota car can really put a dent in your wallet when trying to stick to a budget. Buying a Toyota vehicle at a New Jersey car auction is easy when you find the source of the auction.

Most of the time cars at auto auctions are ex-government or seized vehicles in excellent condition. The government cannot afford to store these cars, so different government agencies put on auto auctions to liquidate the car inventory as quickly as they can by holding auctions.

A lot of the time car auctions throughout New Jersey hold previews a day or two before the actual auction, so this gives you time to examine the vehicles you are interested in and decide which vehicle/s you will be bidding on. It is a good idea to do your homework before attending car auctions as they can be quite fast paced and it is important to know your maximum bids on each of the cars you are interested in.

If you are getting ready to buy a car, the best place to start is at the New Jersey auto auctions where you will find a cheap Toyota car to suit your needs and won’t put a dent in your wallet. You will be able to find some of the most amazing values at the New Jersey car auctions and it will save you a considerable amount of money compared to what you would find at retail price.

Buying a car at an auto auction allows a buyer to get a better deal for a used car than would probably have been possible if bought from a car dealer. Some car dealers will purchase cars from auto auctions and sell it a higher price. The consumer may not be able to get the same deal as the car dealer would at the same auto auction, but in most cases, will come away paying much less than buying it directly from the dealer.

There are many cars to choose from at the auto auction and some of them have unbelievable low prices. These auto auctions are located across the United States and most of them are open to the public. Bids usually start very low – as low as $100 dollars.

The inventory at these auctions result from government repossession of vehicles confiscated from drug criminals, from vehicles repossessed by the bank and from abandoned cars. It is not unlikely to find a Mercedes or Benz at these auctions for ridiculously low prices.

It is expensive to store these vehicles and that is why auctions are held to get rid of them. Therefore, because of the low starting bids for these cars, the auction attracts a lot of car dealers and people who are looking for cheaper cars.

Another reason for attending an auto auction to purchase a used car is that there are a lot of consumers who don’t know about these auctions because they are not highly publicized. This will allow you a better chance to get the car you want because there may not be that much competition to begin with.

Most auto auctions will allow you to test drive the vehicle and inspect it for any defects. Vehicles are sold “as is,” but the price could be well worth it. Even the cost to repair the car will still save you a lot of money compared to buying a new car or a dealer purchased car.

An auto auction gives you the luxury of owning a vehicle without having to worry about making monthly car payments and that is the primary reason why it is beneficial to shop for a car at an auction.

The US auto industry crisis has caused pain for both workers and investors. Workers have been laid off from long-held jobs as bankruptcies mount and cut-backs are made. Investors in auto companies have seen the value of their stockholdings slashed.

However, Government intervention has meant that little has been done to weed out the weak and restore capacity to more sustainable levels. Because of the political sensitivity Governments have become involved but the number of particpants (manufacturers and the like) will most likely not reduce. There is some likelihood of auto makers joining forces to better enable global scale and improve technologies.

One such technology that is benefiting is electric and petrol-electric hybrids. Such vehicles are becoming more desireable by wealthy drivers with BMW, Mercedes and Audi all releasing more environmentally friendly models. More and more hybrids are being fitted with plugs which is moving the consumer away from oil-producing companies and towards utility corporations producing electricity.

But nervousness remains throughout the auto industry. After the completion of the Cash For Clunkers scheme there are few signs of demand from consumer growth leaving some industry analysts to ponder that the next year may be even tougher for the auto industry.

There are thousands of vehicles seized on a daily basis and finding storage space for them is a major problem for the government. The best way that the government can deal with this situation is to disperse the vehicles to various auctioneers like public auctions, repo auctions, police auctions and government auctions. This exposes these vehicles to the public for purchase resulting in a faster disposal process. The selling prices are also kept low as the primary objective of the government is not to make a profit on these vehicles but rather to get rid of them quickly. Exposure to public and low prices brings about fairly quick sales instead of keeping the cars in storage for long periods.

For those who have made up their minds that they want a used car then an auction is the best place to get a cheap car which is in a relatively good condition. Vehicles which have been seized by the law are usually in good condition and are not too old either. This is what most buyers look for. However, there can be stiff competition and the used car dealers who are experienced at bidding know exactly how to clinch a deal. The inexperienced buyer will find bidding against them difficult. To gain a little knowledge about auctions one can visit a live auction and watch it without participating in it. This way you know how to go about bidding and will not be completely unaware of what happens at these auctions.

Seized cars which have been confiscated because the previous owners have failed to clear the loans to banks and other institutions, are the ones which are in good condition and are not too old. Some of the seized cars once belonged to criminals and drug peddlers and these are usually the most expensive luxury brands. People who indulge in such activities have a flamboyant lifestyle and will not settle for anything but the best even though they loose it all in the end. Many vehicles are also repossessed due to the owner not paying their taxes. Again these vehicles can be picked up for a lot less than in a dealership. You can probably find yourself a BMW or a swanky sports car amongst this lot.

Apart from all the auctions which happen in your town there are also the online auctions which you can register with and bid online. The complete transaction happens online and you do not have to step out of your home but will find the vehicle delivered to you. While there are some risks with buying this way (as with buying any item over the internet) the fact that you can get cars a substantially lower prices compensates the buyer for these risks.

While Governments and financial institutions use auctions to move and sell seized, repossessed and forfeited vehicles, classic cars are also sold at auction. No longer are these auctions only for wealthy and elite people – anyone can attend and participate. There are many classic car clubs and regular auctions held around the US which classic car enthusiasts eagerly attend.

Car lovers who want to buy and be seen in a more rare, individual and stylish vehicle find classic car auctions very valuable. For it is at these auctions that such unique cars are offered for sale, whereas it is difficult to source such vehicles by other means.

While classic cars auctions are fun, vibrant events, potential bidders should still follow the basic rules of buying at auction. First of all, as always, do your research on the car you want. Make sure it fits your criteria and that you have a good understanding of its worth. The bidder must exercise caution and prudence during the auction to ensure that they don’t get caught up in the excitement of the event and end up paying too much for the car.

Make sure you conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle before auction. This is tried and true advice and should always be adhered to.

Buyers should attend only auctions held by credible auction companies. Therefore it will lessen the risk of paying too much for an inferior vehicle and it will give buyers more confidence to bid.

By following these basic auction tips, you too can buy the car of your dreams from a classic car auction.

The US Auto Industry is bracing for tougher fuel efficiency standards. The new standards call for new vehicles to average 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016. The new measures were announced on September 15 in the midst of falling sales of small fuel-efficient cars.

Sales in small car segments have dropped 15 per cent or more in the year to date. Used car buyers are also buying less small cars.

Used car buyers also are showing less interest in smaller cars. Kelley Blue Book officials say residual values for small cars have plummeted while they have gone up considerably for large cars and sport utility vehicles.

Adesa, a large wholesale auto auction company that conducts sales all over the country, reported that while pickup truck prices plummeted 17 percent in value from August 2007 to August 2008, they have risen 23 percent since then. Meanwhile, the auction house said, compact car prices went up by 17 percent from August 2007 to August 2008, but have fallen 15 percent since then.

Research is showing that US car buyers are wanting to buy more fuel efficient vehicles but they are not wanting to buy a smaller car. This is posing a new set of problems to be solved by auto-makers if they are to satisfy consumers in the future. As the gas prices at the pump fall people are moving back towards larger vehicles. But how long gas prices remain at low levels remains to be seen.

Few Auto shows are anticipated more than the upcoming LA Auto show. After a pretty dismal show last year due to the financial state of America’s big three car manufacturers, (Chrysler couldn’t even afford to have lights on their stand) this years show is going to be a watershed.

There’s a host of new models to be launched and a few cars making their North American Debut. Chief of which is the Ferrari 458 Italia, quite possibly the most beautiful car Ferrari has made since the 355. The 458 is of course a technological tour-de-force with a 4.5 litre V8 and computer controlled dual clutch 7 speed transmission, you have a car that will make you feel like the driving god you know you are. There are even rumours of Ferrari launching a hybrid at the show so stay tuned.

Not to be outdone Porsche will be displaying the updated Turbo and the Panamera. They’ll also be showing the hybrid Cayenne. You’ll have to wait until next year though to see the all new Cayenne which is slightly smaller and lighter than the current model, so it should be kinder to the planet and in my opinion its a lot better looking.

No LA auto show is complete without taking a look at what Toyota has to offer. There’s a new version of the Prius the darling of Hollywood, oh and there’s the Matrix, no nothing to do with Keanu Reeves, not much to say about it really, except it’s a five door hatch with a sporty engine and a big rear spoiler, Ken Block watch out.

GM are perhaps the most beleaguered of the big three US auto makers. Looking to rebound after the worst year in their corporate history, they have a host of new models to show. Some of which should have been shown at last years show but they were short of funds.

The most exciting of these is the new Chevy Camaro, not exactly a green car with a 6.2 litre V8 but exciting never the less. Then comes an updated version of the little Aveo5 the hatchback version of the Aveo, it gets a round of updates including rounder styling and a bigger body with some new wheels and trim pieces.

From the Brits we have yet another new Aston Martin, the Rapide and yes it’s beautiful, kind of like a stretched DB9 with two extra doors. And of course the Bentley Mulsanne will make its show debut in the town where it probably feels most at home. The replacement for the venerable old Arnage has a classic yet sleek look and all new engine to help keep the Co2 down and keep the green brigade happy.

Chrysler will be showing the Dodge Challenger about the only thing of interest on their stand until a host of new models are launched in the next few years, after a fresh injection of capital. There’s a possibility of an exciting concept car though.

Ford has the updated mustang which debuted last year but which you can actually buy this year, and the updated Fusion, which has been heavily restyled for this year, updated everything really nothing totally new so again keep a look out for a sexy concept car.

So you fancy a buying a new Chevy Camaro but cant quite stretch to the $23,000 asking price, and that’s assuming you can find one for sale in the first place. But your mate tells you about government car auctions and how cars there go for a fraction of their true value, and that sets your mind racing. But is it true? And just how exactly do they work.

What is a Government Car Auction?

They are car auctions just like any other. The only difference being they are run by the US Government to sell cars that have been seized due to unpaid tax and other illegal activities. The Government doesn’t really care how much they get for these cars, they just want to cover their costs and recover any unpaid tax. This means they’re a great opportunity to buy cars and indeed other equipment at a fraction of the cost.

Will They Have a Chevy Camaro?

This is a hard question to answer. I guess it depends on whether Chevy Camaro drivers pay their tax or not. But seriously they could have, you just may be lucky. However its best to visit these auctions with a broader range of cars in mind, maybe think about any kind of Chevy rather than a specific model. If your choice of cars is too narrow you could end up visiting Government Auctions for months without finding what you’re looking for.

How Much Can I Save?

This will depend on the type of car you’re looking for and many people are bidding for it. Normal auction rules still apply, set a price you’re willing to pay and DON’T go over it. But if you’re lucky you could get an absolute bargain. I’ve seen Porsche 911 go through these auctions with $30000 off list. It’s perfectly possible to get an old Chevy Camaro for just a few thousand dollars.

Will I Be Buying a Piece of Junk?

It’s a common misconception that the quality of cars at Government Auctions is very poor. In most cases that’s just not true. Of course there’s the odd banger but most of the cars are in fairly good condition. There previous owners weren’t exactly expecting the cars to be seized so they generally looked after them. Cars sold via Government Auction are sold as seen however, so if your not mechanically minded its best to take a friend with you to check the cars out.

Do I Have to Pay to Attend?

Generally speaking NO, Government Car Auctions are free to attend for members of the general public. So there’s nothing stopping you from going down for a look to start with, just take a look around and see what kind of cars are available and what kind of prices they go for, you’ll be amazed at how much money you can save.

Touts can be a great source of information for quality seized vehicles in the United States. However, this may be an illegal way to get vital information about auto auctions, but they do have the inside information that you will need to get a used car at a low price.

There are car auctions in your area that you may know nothing about, but a tout will be able to get you this information. Most times, they will charge you a fee for the information.

The tout also can help you during the auction with details about the bidding process and how you should bid.

The Internet is a good source of information for those who are looking to buy a quality vehicle at an auction. However, you have to be careful because there are so many scams out there and people who try to take advantage of the innocent.

Government auctions are an excellent source for a good vehicle. The government repossesses vehicles from criminals or pick up stranded vehicles and resell them to the general public.

These auctions are held at specific times and locations. Sometimes, the U.S. government will announce their auctions through the newspaper media, but unless you purchase that paper, the date may pass without you knowing that it was held.

Word of mouth is also another great source for finding a quality vehicle. You might know someone who knows about these government auctions.

There are mailing lists that the government allows the public to join in order to be notified of various auctions. Getting on a list like that will allow you to get the opportunity to purchase a quality vehicle.

A used car dealer is a reliable source for quality seized vehicles in the United States. Banks and the police department are also privy to auction information. The banks may take part in the auction by providing their inventory of repossessed vehicles.

So if you know someone who is a car dealer, police officer or bank official, you will be able to attend a public car auction and be able to get a quality seized vehicle for less than retail price.

US car manufactures are going more and more green with the cars that they produce. According to a report by WhatGreenCar, the environmental rating for 2010 model cars is up 6.6%, which is more than triple last years reading of 2.1%.

This along with the newly adopted fuel efficiency rules by the US Government means that carmakers are more and more embracing the production of environmentally friendly cars.

Such changes to car production will filter through to car auctions too. As more and more consumers trade-in their gas vehicles for more fuel-efficient variants, more and more cars will become available to buy at auction. The US Government itself will undoubtedly continue to move towards using more and more fuel-efficient cars; it makes financial and political sense.

Auction buyers should take advantage and be on the look out for more and more bargains on current models and, as time goes by, environmentally friendly cars will become available at auction as well.

Car auctions are so popular that KAR Holdings (the number 2 operator in the auction industry) has decided to go public. With its live and online auction systems, KAR itself sold more than 3.2 million vehicles last year alone.

So people can benefit and profit not only from buying their cars at auction but also by participating in the new float.

During an auto show in Frankfurt, Ford Motor Company announced its decision to release the Ford C-Max to the United States in 2011. This car was released in Europe in 2003 and has been a sensational hit since. The Ford C-Max comes in a 7 passenger as well as 5 passenger cars.

As the United States prepares to embrace the idea of fuel efficiency and emission reduction, the Ford C-Max will be a welcome addition to the fleet of cars in operation. Europeans find that the C-Max is a versatile car and are swapping their hatchback for the convenience of the C-Max.

The Ford C-Max provides an increase in efficiency, utility and opportunities for carrying more load and passengers.

The engine has an Ecoboost design coupled with fuel injection directly and has turbo charging features that allows it to duplicate the power of a large engine.

Usually, the Ecoboost technology was only restricted to the 3.5- liter V6 with a power of the V8. However, this technology has been used on the Ford C-Max with its 1.6 liter, V4. This accounts for the high performance displayed like that of a 2.5 liter.

Technology has also provided Ford with the resources to make the C-Max and Grand C-Max a start and stop system that helps it to save o fuel. This start and stop system shuts the engine off at brief intervals when the vehicle is not immobile such as when it waits at a stop light.

This kind of technology has been part of the European system. However, this is the first time that Ford is using it and applying it to the C-Max.

Ford plan is to use their newly initiated C-segment architecture to make up to two million cars each year as well as 10 exclusive models depending on the platform.

One of those models is the new Ford Focus, which is currently a popular car in Europe and will be coming to the United States in 2011. It will be replacing the tired type that is now running in the United States.

Ford Motor also revealed their Focus Econetic at the auto show in Frankfurt as the most efficient and optimized variant of the original Focus. The emission output is 99 grams per kilometer and gives almost 62 miles to the gallon.

These cars will be new to the United States, but have been enjoying excellent sales and profits from the European market.

U.S. automakers will have a smaller presence at the Frankfurt Auto Show this month. There will be new electric vehicles many hope will secure the auto industry’s post-recession comeback.

GM’s Cadillac brand won’t have a presence while Chrysler’s Dodge and Jeep have moved to the Fiat stand. GM’s European brands, Opel and Saab, will only serve to remind that GM is selling them. Other notable absences include Mitsubishi, Honda and Nissan’s Infiniti, which are instead focusing on the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show.

Many attendees at the show will focus on advances in electric cars and hybrids, and for improvements that might bring the vehicles into the mainstream. They’ll also look for clues about forthcoming small-car offerings from U.S. carmakers aiming to improve their line of fuel-efficient vehicles.

Top new product offerings include four new electric vehicles from Renault, with one headed for consumers by 2011, including one with no internal combustion engine at all; a hybrid Mercedes B-Class, called the F-Cell, which sports a fuel cell and an electric motor; and the first plug-in version of Toyota’s Prius hybrid, meaning its batteries can be charged from a household outlet.

GM will tout its Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in electric that uses an internal-combustion engine to extend its range beyond the distances that the batteries are capable of handling.

Those cars are headed for consumers soon, but BMW AG gives a look farther down the road with its low-slung supercoupe, the Vision EfficientDynamics. It’s a high performance, plug-in diesel-electric hybrid powered by a three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo engine, and by not one but two electric motors, one for the rear wheels, one for the front.

Those looking for an idea of U.S. automakers small-car offerings can see Ford’s redesigned C-Max.

Ford said it hasn’t scaled back at the show, as its European division vehicles are better sellers than GM and Chrysler brands. Opel has a new version of its Astra, its mainstay in European markets. The Astra will also give a preview of GM’s plans for small cars in the United States.

“There will be an electric car at almost every stand,” at this year’s Frankfurt show, Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer, an industry expert at the University of Duisburg-Essen said, although it would be some time before they are on the production line and in dealer show rooms.

“Like in hybrids, the Japanese are ahead of the Germans in electric cars,” he said. “One of the reasons is the battery technology which in Japan is systematically further developed.

“Another reason is Germans’ strength in diesel,” Dudenhoeffer said. “Large parts companies like Robert Bosch, for example, are behind the curve in batteries and electric cars,” compared to the Japanese, he said.

He said Toyota has already built its 2 millionth hybrid car this year — an important link in the electric car chain — while Daimler’s Mercedes S400, the only German hybrid on the market so far, has built less than 200 of the cars to date.

In August, Nissan Motor Co. in Japan unveiled the Leaf, an electric car scheduled to go into mass production for a global market in 2012. And U.S. President Barack Obama committed $2.4 billion in federal grants to develop next-generation electric vehicles and batteries in the U.S.

Last month, Germany’s government said it would commit some euro500 million over the next three years on a plan to put 1 million electric cars on the road by 2020, including euro170 million into battery research.

The heavy batteries that take the place of international combustion engines and gasoline are expensive to produce, and countries like South Korea and Japan are far ahead in research and development. Improving them is key.

Analysts expect global production of purely electric cars to expand rapidly in the coming years. IHS Global Insight forecast that it will grow from nearly 9,500 this year to more than 58,000 in 2011.

Germany’s Volkswagen AG, Europe’s biggest automaker, has said it hopes to introduce its first electric cars on the market in 2013. It’s expected to show off an electric version of its “Up!” city car. Daimler AG, which has been testing an electric version of its two-seater Smart, is working with California-based electric car maker Tesla Motors Inc. on developing better battery and electric drive systems.

Ford Motor Co. will also offer an all-electric commercial van in 2010 and plans to have three other electric vehicles available in the U.S. by 2012.

The industry remains in flux with sales still down because of the global economic crisis and the landscape has change since the last show in 2007. General Motors Co. sought and emerged from bankruptcy protection, has agreed to sell its Opel unit to Canada’s Magna International Inc. and Sberbank. Chrysler Group LLC and Fiat SpA are now partners and Volkswagen AG dodged a takeover bid by Porsche SE, then turned the tables by initiating a takeover of Porsche.

If you are thinking of buying Ford cars at Arizona government auctions, you may be able to find the source of the best deal. All car auctions are not alike. They all have different criteria and specifics.

You can get a luxury Ford car at the Arizona auto auction for a fraction of the price sold at retail. The government repossesses and seizes cars from criminals and tax defaulters and makes them available to the public. A variety of their inventory is Ford cars.

The retail price for a Ford car can truly put a dent in your wallet. Buying a Ford vehicle at a government auction is easy when you find the source of the auction. The Arizona government cannot afford to store these cars, so different government agencies put on auto auction to liquidate the car inventory as quickly as they can by holding auctions.

Ford cars are a part of their inventory as well as other cars such as Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, and Cadillac. There are many vehicles available at the Arizona government auctions and the bargains are tremendous because of the need to lessen the entire inventory.

If you are getting ready to buy a car, the best place to start is at the Arizona government auctions where you will find a Ford car to suit your needs. You will be able to find some of the most extraordinary values at the car auction and it will save you money compared to what you would find at retail price.

The immediate source for Ford cars before attending the Arizona government auction is to search online for Ford reviews, pricing and buying tips. The Ford report will provide valuable information and show a comparison between the prices for new and used cars.

The Arizona government is a reliable source for Ford cars. People willing to source a Ford car at the government auction in Arizona have various options to consider. One of the easiest options is to participate in online bidding. This is not easy for those who are new to the online auction bidding experience. The newspaper and television may also provide more details about pending Ford car auctions conducted by the Arizona government.

The prices for these Ford cars may sometimes confuse the bidder and so it is best to recheck the prices through the different sources that you will find online.

According to a new survey by Consumer Reports National Research Center not all car brands are considered equal by American consumers. “Buy American” is a strong mindset in current car buyers as about 80 percent of respondents who are considering buying a new car are likely to consider a domestic brand.

Ford Motor Co., the only big US carmaker who did not seek Federal Government assistance in the global financial crisis, benefited the most from the recent problems in the auto industry. Ford had the largest gain in new car buyers from last year’s survey; up 17 percentage points. Survey respondents looking to buy a GM car were up 6 percentage points, whereas Chrysler fell 25 percentage points since the previous survey.

The most important aspects for current new car buyers are quality, fuel economy, safety, price and value. Less important considerations are brand, environmental friendliness or manufacturer stability.

So if the American automakers can deliver what consumers want then they will take advantage of the current increased patriotism among American car buyers.

Subaru are widely known for making solid and reliable cars. The release of the 2010 Outback is no different.

According to Subaru, the new Outback is bigger in all dimensions – longer, wider and higher providing new spaciousness for driver and passenger alike. Apart from a spacious new cabin, a more refined ride and multiple engineering changes will expand its versatile appeal to families.

Subaru are famous for their Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive ability and the new Outback maintains its super-safe status with a variety of new features across the range, including a cradle that cocoons the engine from the reinforced passenger cabin in heavy frontal impacts. The Outback has again achieved the highest five-star occupant safety rating.

Fuel consumption is improved and emissions reduced.

The 2.5 liter four cylinder delivers 170 horsepower and the 3.6 liter six cylinder model produces 256 horsepower. The later now runs on regular gas (it took premium in early models) which produces some cost savings.

Buyers who would normally look at the larger SUVs to transport their family should also take a look at the new Subaru Outback.

Thanks to the Cash For Clunkers scheme, the US Auto Industry had a bumper month in August. The increased sales figures were led by a 17% jump at Ford Motor Co. Ford’s sales performance was underpinned by its truck sales which posted its first year-on-year increase in three years.

Auto industry sales were boosted by the Cash For Clunkers offer which was more popular with consumers than anticipated. It gave immediate relief to the struggling auto industry but, after winding up last month, will most likely lead to a sluggish September for auto companies.

Chrysler, meanwhile, fell 15% which was partly attributed to a lack of inventory. Most of Chrysler’s plant sat idle for three months as it battles bankruptcy. Chrysler finished with inventory which was 74% lower than a year ago. It has just a 28-day supply of vehicles so the Company has announced a 50,000 vehicle boost to planned output.

GM reported a fall in sales of 20% with car sales down 4.6%. However, Mark LaNeve, Vice President of U.S. Sales said “We’re very pleased with the sales performance in our Western region, where sales were up more than 41% compared with July”. He noted customers were responding to a pilot program it launched last month with online auction site eBay Inc. That effort will be extended through September.

While you may not believe this, government car auctions do support the auto industry. Why is that you may ask? It is very simple to explain. Remember, the more autos that are sold through these auctions the more that they are out in the public eye developing interest in other types of autos that a carmaker may have to offer. Furthermore, the quicker the Government can clear this surplus car stock, the quicker it can replace them with a new fleet of vehicles.

With a wide variety of cars to choose from and some of these cars seized in repossession, it does benefit the car industry. They are being paid back a debt that is owed. This helps them by recovering a debt and part of the money that is owed to them by the debtor. Once the car is auctioned off, then the recovered money will be sent to the finance company that had the loan on the repossessed car. There are many people in today’s economy that are defaulting on auto loans and having cars and trucks repossessed. They are then sold to the highest bidder at auction and the money recouped goes back to the lender. This helps the lender both stay in business and remain solvent so that they can continue to finance other car purchases. The buyer also wins with having a quality automobile that they can bid on and win.

So this is a twofold process. The auction gets the money back that the lender needs or as much of it as can be raised during an auction. The party that was repossessed will be responsible for the balance due, if the car sells for less than the loan value. So that is also valuable to helping the auto industry. While it is bad that many people are either losing their cars to repossession or being seized as part of a raid, either way it benefits the auto industry.

Either by seizure or repossession, this will benefit the auto industry in one way. They will get paid what is owed to them without too much fuss after the cars are auctioned off. That is the reason why cars are auctioned off in many different auctions. The automakers recover their costs and the loans are repaid as much as possible. Defaulting on loans or cars being seized with loans still outstanding are checked in the database and then sold with the proceeds going back to the loan makers.

There are several ways to source a vehicle at an auction. Before you bid at auction you should have registered (which will generally require a valid driver’s license and/or credit card if applicable) and you should have your finance arranged.

There are many Government auctions held in the US. Government auctions can be both online auctions where the bidding and action all takes place on the web and live auctions where people bid in person. Many different types of vehicles are auctioned. At government auctions you might be able to find a motorcycle, a tow truck, or even a postie van! Vehicles can also include boats as well.

Another popular type of government auction is the thousands of fleet vehicles that the US Government sells every year. Vehicles include police squad cars, SUVs, and vans that are retired after each year of duty. In fact, there is a federal agency that deals exclusively with fleet vehicles for the government, known as the United States General Services Administrations (GSA). This is the organization responsible for buying the new fleet vehicles that are to be leased to other federal agencies and departments. When the leasing period expires the government must get rid of these in order to make room for the new cars again. This is how the general public can really benefit as those leased vehicles represent fantastic savings. The vehicles typically how low miles and are well maintained and service according to Government policy.

Government vehicle auctions aren’t the only auctions; there are also local vehicle auctions.

Local vehicle auctions enable you to visit the site live since local auctions are found within your geographical area. This enables you to see the car live and bid on the car in person. Keep in mind that not all local auctions are open to the public. Also, note that you may have to pre-register with the local auction facility which will enable you to receive more information on how that particular auction site operates and have any questions answered. The auction site will most likely have assistance for you so that you can get familiar with their particular rules and standard bidding procedures. Make use of this opportunity.

You can do much of your research and source vehicles at auction online so make the most of this valuable resource.
Buyers do get an opportunity to inspect vehicles prior to a live auction. You should contact the respective auction company to find out when inspections are allowed to be done. Usually inspections can be done on the day of the auction but often there is an opportunity to inspect in the days leading up to the auction.

Unfortunately there is no warranty on vehicles sold at auction. They are sold on an “as is” basis. We highly recommend you conduct a thorough inspection using a qualified mechanic prior to auction.

Make sure you rely on your intuition. If you feel good about a vehicle and have done all your research and checks then go for it and bid. If you don’t feel confident then pass on that vehicle as there are always many more cars coming up for auction. Make the most of it!
